Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral will host two ice cream socials with the Marine Resources Council and the Sea Turtle Preservation Society in April to educate attendees about sea turtles and whales. On Saturday, April 8, learn more about the Marine Resources Council‘s work to maintain and enhance the quality of Florida’s marine systems. The Marine Resources council focuses primarily on maintaining the health of the Indian River Lagoon. They will be giving a “Right Whale” presentation and hosting fun activities for the whole family.
On Saturday, April 15, learn more the Sea Turtle Preservation Society‘s work to help maintain the sea turtle population. The Sea Turtle Preservation Society rescues hatchlings, post-hatchlings, and adult sea turtles and transports them to rehabilitation sites. Rusty the Turtle was treated at the Sea Turtle Healing Center in January. The Sea Turtle Preservation Society and the Brevard Zoo opened the center in 2014.
