Port Canaveral now offers free parking for disabled veterans at Port Canaveral cruise terminals, which will save disabled veterans $16 a day on their cruises, according to FloridaToday.com.
“It is the right thing to do to honor our disabled veterans, and the loss of revenue is insignificant, and not even an important consideration,” said Jerry Allender, Canaveral port authority chairman, in an interview with FloridaToday.com
Port Canaveral has waived parking fees for vehicles transporting a disabled person that have special equipment, including hand controls, foot controls, ramps, or lifts. The new policy extended the parking fee waiver to vehicles displaying a Florida license plate for disabled veterans, according to Florida Today.
