The weekend of October
26th & 27th, was “spooktacular” in the Cove at Port Canaveral!
It was the fourth annual Port Weekend, presented by the Port Canaveral
Association which is a non-profit organization that markets the businesses
in Port Canaveral & the many port destinations.
Friday night started with a Street Party hosted by the Cove businesses.
The Party included WJRR’s “Return of the Fiasco” and
entertainment at each Cove establishment including a Halloween Costume
Contest sponsored by SunCruz Casinos. The Cape Kennedy Corvette Club put
on a Classic Car Cruise-In where car enthusiasts came to show off and
admire each other’s “rides.”
Saturday the Cove also hosted a variety of street vendors from our local
community, lots of kids activities including a Halloween Costume Contest
again sponsored by SunCruz Casino. Then the competitive spirit really
bloomed that afternoon, with the “Infamous” Bed and Bathtub
Race sponsored by RJ Kennedy Construction. There were seven team entries
this year and Fairvilla Megastore took first place, closely followed by
Bombay Hair Salon. For the second year in a row, Mickies Deli won the
special prize for “Most Creative”. Other team entries included:
Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill, Canaveral Port Authority, Rusty’s
Seafood & Oyster Bar, Comfort Inn Cocoa Beach.
